The dark and minimalist nuance is a description or outline of the hip-hop music in The Cold Truth, seems backward and almost anti-boom-bap in every beat, as if forcing the listeners to deeper into the lyrics with social and political themes. Wrapped in smooth flow and wordplay, it’s definitely not party music, it’s an introduction to reality. The traditional hip-hop example is still very strong, but SWEETXD seems to provide isolation space and brings its own elements.
No wonder he admitted that this EP was heavily influenced by rappers such as KA, Roc Marciano, Earl Sweatshirt and MF DOOM. Like breaking out of a monotonous pattern, The Cold Truth will take you to the top floor of hell.
